2008 was a special year – the 30th Anniversary of proudly serving our customers’ automation needs! Gordon Cates founded our company in 1978 in Houston, Texas and since then we’ve expanded to three Texas locations serving customers throughout the U.S. and in a number of foreign countries. Sadly, Gordon is no longer with us — but his legacy lives on in our company motto and culture.

Leadership Institute

In June 2005, I2R made a commitment to our customers and our employees to develop an on-going process to ensure our customer-centered principles are practiced daily – by every person who works for I2R. Our commitment continues to pay dividends as our company grows and new employees are introduced into our unique culture.

We start by hiring good people. But that’s merely the beginning. Twice a year, small groups go through an intense six-month program designed to develop and accelerate the integration of essential leadership characteristics:

  • Flexiblility
  • Intellectual Stimulation
  • Respect for Others
  • Charisma
  • Communication Skills

The I2R Leadership Institute curriculum created by Keith Martino, President of CMI, is designed to weave key leadership characteristics and I2R principles into the fabric of the organization. Moment of Truth exercises are incorporated into every session to ensure employees fully embrace I2R values and reflect them consistently.

Graduating from the Leadership Institute requires passing a written assessment and panel interview. Certification is never easy … nor is it guaranteed. Several employees have re-taken the six month course before mastering the principles. Given the intensity, everyone who engages in the process comes out of it stronger — personally and professionally.

Employees engage in this vigorous leadership program to tighten their focus on doing the right thing — whether it’s for clients, suppliers or fellow employees. They learn and practice the skills that characterize strong leaders, effective decision-makers and excellent communicators – and this is what makes I2R the partner you can rely upon with your complex integration projects.
